In dieser Performance verkörpert Oxana Chi die berühmte Pharaonin Neferet iti. In Berlin ist ihre Büste ein kultureller Touristenmagnet, seit mehr als 100 Jahren steht sie im Museum ohne Chance in ihre Heimat zurück zu reisen. Somit ist sie eine der ältesten afrikanischen Figuren Deutschlands. Neferet iti ist eine poetische, zeitgenössische Tanz-Performance von Oxana Chi, die den Bogen von Europa nach Afrika spannt. laYla Zami eröffnet den Abend mit ihrem kurzen Solo “Homesong” und ist auch bei Neferet iti mit Saxophon und Ocean Drum live dabei.
Die Performance öffnet einen kritischen Blick darauf, dass Europa finanziellen und kulturellen Profit aus dem künstlerischen Eigentum anderer Länder macht, während die anderen Länder und Künstler_innen unbekannt bleiben.

OXANA CHI is an award-winning dancer, choreographer, curator, filmmaker and author. Her fusion dance uplifted and healed audiences across the globe, in venues such as NYU Tisch School of the Arts Jack Crystal Theater, Dixon Place Theater, Solo International Performing Arts, Ballhaus Naunyn, Werkstatt der Kulturen, Biennale Passages Bielefeld, Societätstheater Dresden, Taipei Fringe Festival, Aliwal Arts Centre Singapore, Maison-Heinrich-Heine Paris, Goldsmith University London. Her current repertoire comprises 18 works, characterized by a fusion blending European, Asian and African styles, and by the capacity to trace continuities between past, present, and future. Her work received various public and private funding such as Fonds Darstellender Künste, FMS Paris, Fonds Soziokultur. Oxana was born in Germany of Eastern Nigerian and Eastern European descent. She received the title of Ambassador of Peace at DOSHIMA 2016 in Jakarta.

LAYLA ZAMI is a multi-talented academic and artist working with language, music, video, and photo. As a dance researcher and a performer for Oxana Chi Company, she toured universities, festivals and theaters in France, Germany, Indonesia, Martinique, India, Turkey, Taiwan, the UK and the USA. Her solo homesong premiered at the Werkstatt der Kulturen in Berlin and at Dixon Place Theater in New York. In 2017, she obtained a Doctorate in Gender Studies from Humboldt University for a dissertation on dance and memory. She received awards from the German Ministry of Education and the French Ministry of Youth, among others. Born in Paris, Layla finds inspiration in her Afro-Caribbean-Indian-Jewish-European kulturelles Reichtum.
